TWO STICKS

FROM ALAN JACOBS ADVAITA VEDANTA

SONNETS OF EXPERIENCE

TWO STICKS

A truth to be known by each girl and boy,
One's suffering's only another side of joy.
Every stick must possess two ends,
Between two poles ego mind will wend.
One hour happy then gloomily glum,
Avoid this trap to be wise not dumb.
One needs transcend all opposite poles,
To be Self Realised and become whole.
Surrender to one's Inner Guru is the way,
Then practice self enquiry every day.
This way we'll avoid that painful sting
When opposites spring their awesome swing.
So become joyful and happy all of the time
Instead of up and down then rest in one's prime.
