Multicoloured marvel for man's leisure,
Oriental, brought by the Dutch Nation,
Who favoured this flowery fascination,
For speculation and spring time pleasure,
Finding exotic blooms as boons of treasure.
Soon they formed a Netherlandish sensation,
Gracing the homes of that Dutch generation,
Tulip bulbs vased abundant, in ample measure.
Man is hypnotised by novelties and toys,
He values bawdy hubble-bubble baubles,
Which when pursued are cause of troubles.
Just like lighting fireworks by impish boys
Only results in a cacophonous noise,
Their refuse ends up as worthless rubble.
Pursuit of Truth is the only real joy,
Which lasts forever, and shall never cloy.
