IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

Life’s not some glamourous gambling game,
A throw of mindless roulette on the wheel
Of bright scarlet time and jet black space,
A play of chance numbered by some numb brain,
It is much more than that my dearest friend.

We slipped from our natural State the Self,
Through a hungry craving for experience,
And fell into a dream of gross materiality.
Our angel wings were badly bruised and broken.

After suffering pain we prayed to come home,
And in Her Grace, Love sent us a Great Sage,
To wake us from this dark nightmarish plight,
Repeating birth and death through many lives,
Drowning in a whirlpool of ordained fate,
Because of vile habits picked up on the path.

Surrender and Self Enquiry are the way.
The Self which sent us on this ego trip
Of losing and needing to find oneself again,
Will help us back if real earnestness is there!
