Three thieves break into ones spiritual heart;
Anger, greed and desire are their infamous names,
They burgle soul's strength that we need to impart,
The peace of Self Knowledge and end all our shames.
There's evil devil anger, who flies into rage,
When matters upset him and oppose his will,
He loses his calm in tempestuous wrath, he'll wage,
Rows and scenes which makes all friends feel ill.
Then avaricious greed, who always needs more
Money, power and sex, these are favoured friends.
He lusts after vices which lie close to his core,
For secretly these are his fond chosen ends.
Then there's treacherous carnal damsel desire,
She titillates base ego and continuously pleads,
Tempting him to acquire needs he doesn't require,
He gets entangled and trapped in disastrous deeds.
Take a scorch earth policy to these noxious three!
Blast them all from our mischievous mental frame,
They must be destroyed if we wish to be free,
Wild dogs must be tethered, muzzled, made tame.
The rogues will dress up as cops and pretend to try,
To catch themselves, and fool the ardent devotee;
So beware of monkey tricks these three will ply,
To keep us captive, imprisoned, and never be free!
So ask 'who has this anger desire and greed'?
Or give up these thieves to our Guru in the heart;
For these villains there's never any real need,
So dive into Self, and these crooks will depart.
