BE EARNEST

FROM ALAN JACOBS ADVAITA VEDANTA PAGE

SONNETS OF EXPERIENCE

BE EARNEST

There's much rough rubble on one's screen of life,
Which is like a dream full of pictures rife,
Robbing attention from our Holy Task,
When the most vital question we must ask,
Is 'Who Am I?' the true way to reach the Real,
And not be tricked by ego ghost who'll steal,
That experience so vital to feel
Who one truly IS, Brahman in fact
The Self. The only one important act,
Is 'Know One's Self' before life runs away,
Not wait to find that Truth another day.
A warning Inner Guru now does say,
''Know Thy Self before 'tis too late, don't delay,
Be earnest, and cease wasting time in idle play''.
